Two drivers were hospitalised after suffering injuries in a smash on the Daresbury Expressway in Runcorn.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the head-on collision at around 11.30am on Thursday.
A Cheshire police spokesman said the crash involved a white Renault Kangoo van and an orange Lexus UX.

Runcorn Fire Station tweeted a picture of the aftermath of the collision, showing the two vehicles with badly-damaged front ends and debris strewn between the car and van, on the two-lane stretch of the expressway.
The fire station's social media post, which urged motorists to drive safely, said: “Blue Watch attended an RTC today involving two vehicles on the Daresbury Expressway.
“Luckily nobody was trapped and paramedics were on scene quickly!”
The police spokesman said: “At 11.30am on Thursday, June 17, police were called to reports of a collision on the Daresbury Expressway in Runcorn.
“Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a white Renault Kangoo and an orange Lexus UX.
“Nobody was trapped as a result of the incident, although the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the collision
“The drivers of both vehicles, a 29-year-old man (Kangoo) and a 70-year-old woman, were both taken to hospital – they are not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.”
