Pensioner, 95, who died after horror smash on Glasgow street named by police

A pensioner who died after being struck by a car in the south side of Glasgow has been named as Agnes King.

The 95-year-old had been on Aikenhead Road when she was hit by a red Mazda car at around 5pm on Thursday, October 31.

Emergency services attempted to save the Glasgow woman's life, but she died at the scene.

Officers closed the road for four hours while investigations were being carried out.

Police Scotland have confirmed that enquiries into the incident are continuing.

Sergeant Jon Mochan, from the National Road Policing Unit, said: “We are extremely saddened to report that Agnes has sadly passed away following the collision.

“I would like to send my personal condolences to Agnes’ family and friends and my gratitude to the members of the public and emergency services who tried to help Agnes at the scene.

“Our enquiries into this collision continue and I would urge anyone with any dashcam footage, or any information which may be relevant, to please contact us.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Those with any information can contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2725 of October 31.”
