Pensioner, 79, seriously injured after minibus crash in Aberkenfig

A pensioner has been seriously injured following a crash while driving a minibus. Officers were alerted to the incident at around 4.15pm on Monday, March 21, in Aberkenfig.

Emergency services attended the scene and the B4281 Park Road was closed for more than 10 hours following the incident. Police report that the driver of a Ford Transit minibus, a 79-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Drivers experienced severe delays in the area for a number of hours following the incident.

An appeal for witnesses has been launched. A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Officers are investigating a serious road traffic collision which happened around 4.15pm yesterday (Monday March 21) on the B4281 Park Road, Aberkenfig. The collision involved a Ford Transit minibus.

"The driver of the minibus, a 79-year-old man from Bridgend, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed for a number of hours and those affected are thanked for their understanding. We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed, have mobile footage or dash cam footage of the incident, to contact us by one of the following means quoting 2200093329."
