Pensioner, 78, left 'shaken' after knifepoint assault and robbery in Easterhouse

Police have launched an investigation after a 78-year-old man was robbed and assaulted in Easterhouse.

The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday morning (October 12) on Lochend Road in Glasgow's east end.

The pensioner was out walking when he was approached by two men and threatened with a knife.

His car was stolen but recovered later that morning near Edinburgh Road.

Police say the man was left 'shaken' but unhurt following the attack.

Officers have now issued a description of two male suspects they believe could be responsible for the incident.

The suspects are both white men, described as being in their mid 20s and approximately 5ft 5ins tall. One of the suspects had dark hair and was wearing a blue tracksuit, the other was wearing a light grey hooded top, black body warmer and grey jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Siobhan McKenna of Govan's Community Investigation Unit (CIU) said: “Our enquiries are continuing to trace the men responsible for this robbery and we're asking for the public's help as part of our efforts.

"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information which may be relevant, to contact Govan CIU through 101, quoting reference number 0070 of Saturday, 12 October, 2019."

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
