Pensioner, 72, dragged to the ground in horrific broad daylight mugging

This is the shocking moment a pensioner was dragged to the floor after a thief snatched her bag in a horrific street robbery.

The 72-year-old victim was walking along the road, in Handsworth, Birmingham, when she was attacked by a hooded thief on Tuesday around 10am.

CCTV footage from a nearby house shows the robber sneaking up on the elderly lady from behind before lunging forward and grabbing her handbag, pulling it with all his might.

The pensioner lost grip of her walking stick and was dragged to the ground, leaving her with a fractured shoulder.

Meanwhile, the thief ran off with her belongings including her cash, bank cards, house keys and mobile phone.

CCTV footage showed him disposing the stolen bank cards in a wheelie bin later on.

Police are now on the hunt for the hooded robber and have issued an urgent appeal for any witnesses.

A West Midlands Police appeal reads: "Know who this man is? We need to speak to him after a robber targeted a woman aged 72 in Birmingham.

"She was walking along Stafford Road, Handsworth, when a man made a grab for her handbag just after 11am yesterday.
