Pensioner, 72, charged with string of deliberate blaze attacks in Ayrshire village

A pensioner has been arrested and charged in connection with NINE arson attacks in a quiet Ayrshire village.

Police Scotland have confirmed a 72-year-old man has been traced in relation to the fire-raising incidents, which took place in Dalrymple between July 2019 and February 2020.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 72-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with nine wilful fire-raising incidents which took place in Dalrymple, East Ayrshire, between July 2019 and February 2020.

"A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
