Pensioner, 70, dies in hospital three days after horror lorry smash in Scots town

A pensioner has tragically died in hospital three days after a horror crash with a lorry in West Lothian.

The 70-year-old man was critically injured after his car collided with the heavy goods vehicle on the A71 Bankton Road in Livingston on Tuesday.

He was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment alongside his 68-year-old female passenger.

But Police Scotland have now confirmed that he sadly lost his fight for life on Friday, December 10.

The passenger of the car has since been released after receiving treatment while the driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Sergeant Peter Houston of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.

“The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this time.”

Police previously appealed for witnesses of the two vehicle crash, which took place at around 12.30pm between the Lizzie Brice and Newpark roundabouts.
