Pension equality campaigners will hold information event tomorrow in West Lothian

Campaigners will host an event for women affected by the change in state pension age.

Women Against State Pension Injustice (WASPI) West Lothian group will provide updates following the call for compensation from the UK Government since the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) found maladministration within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Carlo O’Hara, co-ordinator, WASPI West Lothian, said: “We’re finding that many women born in the 1950s are still unaware of the PHSO investigation and findings, and WASPI are running events across Scotland to inform those affected.”

“This is not about changing the state pension age for women or the previous court cases, as is repeatedly stated by UK Government ministers.”

“It is about the finding of maladministration of the process by the DWP and the call for the UK Government to accept their moral obligation to put things right with a fast and fair solution.”

“All attending can also add their name to the petition urging the House of Commons to ensure that this finding and any subsequent findings by the PHSO on the communication of changes to Women’s State Pension age are passed through any required Parliamentary processes as a matter of urgency to achieve a fast and fair resolution to this matter for all the 1950s born women who have been impacted by the changes to their State Pension Age.”

The drop-in event will take place at Howden Park Centre this Friday from 11am until 1pm.
