At least three people were killed by a shooter, who also died, at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida on Friday, according to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

The latest: An official said the shooter has been identified as a Saudi Arabian aviation student, and authorities are investigating if the incident is terrorism-related, AP reports.

The big picture: Earlier this week, a separate shooting took place Wednesday on another U.S. military installation when a U.S. sailor killed two people at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Shipyard in Hawaii.

Details, per AP:

  • Eleven people were shot in total, including two sheriff’s deputies who were first responders, and one of whom killed the attacker, according to Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan.
  • The base, which remains closed and employs more than 16,000 military and 7,400 civilian personnel, is among the Navy's most historic — and is the home of the Blue Angels flight team.
