Anthony Griffin has been sensationally sacked as Penrith Panthers coach just four weeks out from the NRL finals.
The Panthers' decision to part ways with Griffin, who took over as head coach in 2016, comes as the club sits fifth on the ladder and only four points off top spot following consecutive wins.
Griffin, who was contracted through to the end of 2020 with the Panthers, had previously been let go as Brisbane Broncos coach in 2014 when the club welcomed back foundation coach Wayne Bennett.
He guided the Panthers to the semi-final stage of the 2016 and 2017 seasons but despite their status as a premiership contender this year there had been much speculation his position was in doubt.
More to come.
