Pennywell Road crash: Police and ambulance race to scene after Edinburgh man and woman hit by car

A man and a woman have been hit by a vehicle in a crash on Pennywell Road in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh.

Police vehicles and ambulances raced to the scene at around 3.15pm today and the road has been closed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a road traffic crash involving a car and two pedestrians, a male and a female, on Pennywell Road, Edinburgh, around 3.15pm on Wednesday, 7 October, 2020.

"Officers and the ambulance service are in attendance and the road is currently closed."

The are is currently experiencing a build up of traffic caused by the collision and certain buses are bing diverted.

Edinburgh Travel News said: "Road traffic collision on Pennywell.

"Road between Muirhouse Avenue and Pennywell Gardens.

"Road has reopened northbound but remains closed for southbound traffic.

"Bus diversions in place at Pennywell Road this afternoon - more info as we get it but please allow for some hold-ups in the area."
