(Picture: Go Fund Me)This is the first picture of a support worker stabbed to death in her own home as her alleged lodger awaits trial for her murder.
Peninah Kabeba, 42, known as Penny, was found suffering multiple stab wounds at her home in Park Road, Cheam on May 27.
The mother, who worked with people with learning disabilities, was found by neighbours who alerted police.
Emergency services including London Air Ambulance were called and made every effort to revive her but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.30pm.
Her close friend Tricia Nyamata told The Standard: “She just wanted to help people.
“Our families where we came from, were quite close. She was a good friend, I’ve known her all my adult life.”
Ms Nyamata paid tribute to her adding: “Penny was a kind, giving, loving, respected and wonderful individual.
“Her tragic loss has been a shock to the community and all those who knew her.
“To the world, Penny is another tragedy, but to many of us she was a daughter, mum, an aunt, sister, friend, and colleague.
“Her family and friends are outraged by her murder and will fight to ensure justice is served.”
Mohsen Saadi, 56, of no fixed address was charged with her murder on Sunday. He appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on May 31.
