Police in swat gear surrounded a home in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, where law enforcement officers say a suspect in a shooting was thought to have barricaded himself in a house.
An apparent suspect search has brought local police to at least two separate scenes in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, though official information is scarce and police remain tight-lipped. Reports suggested one or more shootings may have taken place.
The only law enforcement official to speak to reporters on the record was Towamencin police chief Tim Dickinson, the head of a nearby police department that is not in charge of the operation. While swat teams were at an earlier scene, in Souderton, Dickinson told reporters: “The tactical team is moving very slow and methodically.”
“It could be the suspect or it could be someone else. They’re not getting a response from that person so they’re working backwards on this, and trying to make entry to make sure everything’s OK,” said Dickinson.
Police eventually left that scene, moving armored trucks and heavily armed police to the second location in Pennsburg. There, police were seen telling someone to “come to the front door, you’re under arrest.”
Very little official information has been released. Local police referred questions to the Montgomery County district attorney’s office, whose secretary said there was no information being released. Pennsylvania state police said they are not involved in the incident.
