Pennsylvania’s gambling industry continued its upward momentum in September 2025, with total revenue climbing 5.9 percent year-on-year to $535.8 million, according to a recent report released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Although the total fell eight percent short of August’s record $582.3 million, the growth underscores The Keystone State’s resilience amid shifting player behavior and seasonal trends.
Online gambling was the key growth driver, generating $233.4 million in September, up 32.1 percent from the same month last year.
Pennsylvania’s market growth leans on iGaming sector

Online slots led the charge with $181.9 million, a 37.1 percent jump, while internet table games rose 17.8 percent to $50 million. Online poker also posted a modest 4.5 percent gain to $2.3 million.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online casino partners topped the iGaming charts with $87.7 million in revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort at $66.4 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia at $35.4 million.
The surge in iGaming activity helped offset declines in other verticals, particularly sports betting and land-based gaming.
Pennsylvania sports betting revenue fell 44.5 percent to $29.7 million, marking the lowest monthly figure since March, despite a 4.8 percent increase in total handle to $850.5 million. Online wagers accounted for $24.4 million in revenue, while retail sportsbooks contributed $5.4 million.

FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino retained the lead with $15.9 million in revenue from a $297.6 million handle.
Meanwhile, traditional slot machines brought in $194 million, down 1.5 percent from last year, though table games held steady at $73.4 million.
Video gaming terminals at truck stops generated $29.7 million, slipping 0.6 percent, while fantasy contests grew 5.4 percent to $2 million.
Across all gambling channels, Pennsylvania collected $227.9 million in taxes during September, including $106.1 million from iGaming and $96.6 million from land-based slots.
Despite softening in retail and sports segments, online gambling continues to anchor the state’s revenue base, solidifying Pennsylvania’s status as one of the top-performing gambling markets in the United States.
