Penneys have warned customers about a scam that could see them out of pocket.
Pages on social media pretending to represent Penneys and Primark have appeared recently, offering competitions, giveaways, vouchers and goodie bags.
The company, which has been forced to shut its doors due to Level 5 lockdown, says it has no connection to these accounts and are working to get them removed.
Customers are being reminded that any official Penneys and Primark accounts have a verified blue tick located next to their name, and that they would never ask for people's personal information in that way.
They posted on Facebook: "We have been made aware of some social media posts from fake accounts offering Penneys/Primark Competitions, Giveaways, Vouchers/Goodie Bags.
"We can confirm we have no connection to these accounts and are working hard to have them removed.
"For peace of mind, our official accounts have a blue verified tick next to them and we would never ask for your personal information in this way.".
Level Five restrictions will be reviewed on April 5th, as the Government decides if it can ease any measures.
On the agenda: potentially extending the 5km travel limit, as well as relaxing the guidelines on meeting members of other households outdoors.
Ministers will also decide whether outdoor activities like sports can be phased back in, and if construction work around the country can resume.
The Government should give an indication when retail like Penneys will be allowed reopen in Ireland after lockdown.
