Penneys reopening latest as clothing giant hiring new staff at Irish stores

Penneys is recruiting staff members in Co Cork ahead of a planning reopening over the next few months.

All non-essential retail has been forced to close due to the current Level Five restrictions.

And while these measures are expected to be eased in the coming weeks and months, possibly as soon as May, we still don't have a firm reopening date.

However Penneys has already begun its preparation for the big reopening by adding new staff to its shops in the Rebel county, Cork Beo reports.

They don't state if successful applicants will work at their Patrick Street or Wilton stores but it is still a great opportunity all the same.

An online job listing read: "Adored by fashion fans and value seekers alike Primark is widely established as the destination store for keeping up with the latest looks without breaking the bank.

"If you are an enthusiastic and driven individual who is looking to join our fast paced environment selling amazing fashion at amazing prices then this is the role for you.

"As a retail assistant you are the core of our business and play a vital role in our success. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team and support our stores by driving sales, increasing profitability and most importantly delivering excellent customer service.

"We have various shift patterns and will train you on product knowledge, visual merchandising, stock replenishment and most importantly customer service.

"We also offer great opportunities to develop your career with us with an extensive management training program."

Penneys confirmed last month that they plan to double the size of their flagship Munster store, greatly expanding their Patrick Street operation.

The decision will bring joy to Penney shoppers on Leeside, more retail jobs and a much needed boost to Patrick Street and the city centre, which must now re-invent itself for the post-pandemic era.

A Penneys spokesperson told CorkBeo that they are already involved in the planning process to increase their footprint on Pana by 50 per cent.
