Penneys recall range of beauty products over infection and irritation fears

Penneys have recalled three of its beauty products over fears of infection and irritation.

The three primer products have been recalled due to higher than permitted levels of aerobic mesophilic bacteria.

And those who may have bought the product are being advised to stop using it immediately.

Customers are advised to return Primer Water: Charcoal, Watermelon and Coconut back to their local Penneys.

Anyone affected is entitled to a full refund at their local store, and they will not need to provide a receipt,  RSVP Live  reports.

A statement from Penneys said: "Through our on-going due-diligence programme it has come to our attention that the primer waters detailed above do not meet Primark's usual high standards and contain a higher than permitted level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria.

"If used on damaged skin or on contact with the eyes the product may cause infection or irritation, especially for those with a weakened immune system."

The beauty products were on sale from February to August of this year.

They retailer continued: "As a precautionary measure we are recalling these products and invite you to return the items for a full refund.

"The products were on sale in our Irish stores from 4 February 2019 until 30 August 2019.

"If you have purchased any of these products then please return them to any Primark store where you will be offered a full refund. You will not be required to provide a proof of purchase."
