Penneys queues: Video shows miles long lines as Blanchardstown and Dundrum open for 24 hours

Shoppers queued for miles in the cold last night as two Dublin Penneys shops remained open for 24 hours for the first time ever.

The long lines of eager bargain fans braved the harsh Winter cold at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and Dundrum Town Centre and probably thought they would miss the crowds.

But they were mistaken as the insanely long lines filtered around the entire shopping centre in Blanchardstown and packed the car park in Dundrum.

One woman whose sister thought she could skip the crowds at 9pm told Dublin Live: "I think people were thinking it would be a bit quieter if they went up later, my sister was there at 9pm and said it was mental."

Many commenters online shared their shock at the scenes with some joking "there'll be feck all left by the time I get there!".

But others were not quite as impressed by the long queues, and shared their dismay at seeing such crowds only hours after the lifting of Level 5 restrictions in Ireland.

Penneys queues at Dundrum

In the early hours of Tuesday morning there were queues all over Dublin as people eagerly awaited the re-opening of Penneys after six weeks of closure.

In some parts, queues began as early as 4.30am as shoppers waited to update their collection of pyjamas and fluffy socks.
