Penneys enjoys a massive sales boost thanks to their line of pet clothing

Retail giant Primark recorded a jump in sales over the Christmas period thanks to the popularity of their pet clothing range.

The company recorded a 4.5% jump in sales over the festive period.

Back in June, a host of pet friendly products hit the Irish stores including stylish collars, funky leads and cuddly toys for cats and dogs.

And punters were particularly eager to get their hands on unicorn, hotdog and bumblebee-themed outfits for their furry friends all which showed huge popularity.

Primark contributes to more than half of the profits for parent company Associated British Foods' profits.

A number of it's overseas stores enjoyed massive success this year including its Stores across continental Europe and its nine shops in the US.

The discount retailer has also said it has plans to open a staggering 18 new stores this year across Europe.

Last year it opened it's very first store in Slovenia and a second shop in Poland.

And in April 2019, Primark opened it's largest ever shop in Birmingham.

The sprawling 161,000 square foot space boasts over five floors and sits on the entire site of a former shopping centre.
