Penn State, not Georgia, jumped to No. 3 after the upset of Oklahoma Saturday in the new Associated Press Top 25 college football poll.
Oklahoma lost at home to Iowa State, 38-31, and the Sooners fell from No. 3 to 12 in the poll released Sunday. Penn State, which had been ranked No. 4, moved up the one spot after a 31-7 win over Northwestern. Georgia continued its recent dominance with 45-14 win at Vanderbilt, its second straight road blowout of an SEC opponent, and moved up a spot to No. 4. Georgia (6-0, 3-0 SEC) defeated Tennessee, 41-0, and Mississippi State, 31-3, the prior two weeks. The Bulldogs have defeated three SEC opponents a combined 117-17.
Alabama and Clemson remain No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, after eight- and 14-point victories Saturday.
Washington State is No. 8 and Auburn moved up to No. 10 in the new rankings.
Louisville, Utah, Florida and West Virginia fell out of the rankings.
Georgia Tech just missed the Top 25 as the next leading vote-getter behind No. 25 Navy.
