Penn Jillette to tour UK without Teller for first time in new show with Piff the Magic Dragon

Comedy and magic fans are in for a treat as Penn Jillette has announced his first ever UK tour without long-time partner Teller.

Jillette, one half of world-renowned duo Penn & Teller, will join forces with Piff the Magic Dragon for Piff & Pop’s Magic Shoppe, a nine-date UK tour set for September 2026.

The show opens at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on September 10 before heading to Cardiff, Brighton, London, Birmingham, Manchester, York, Newcastle and Glasgow. The London stop will see Piff return to his hometown for a one-night show at Indigo at The O2 on September 15.

It is a major milestone for Jillette, who with Teller has redefined modern magic. Since 2001, the pair have held the longest-running residency for a magic act in Las Vegas history at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Their mix of comedy, razor-sharp sleight of hand and elaborate illusions has made them one of the Strip’s most successful attractions.

Penn & Teller were finally inducted into the Magic Circle last week following a 50-year ban (PA)

The tour announcement also follows another landmark moment, as Penn & Teller were finally inducted into the Magic Circle last week, ending a 50-year ban imposed over their reputation for revealing the secrets behind tricks.

For Piff – real name John van der Put – the tour marks his first UK shows in more than a decade. The Forest Hill-born magician first made his name in Britain before moving to the US, where he rose to fame on America’s Got Talent and built a hit residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas.

Since 2015, he has performed over 2,000 shows with his deadpan humour, offbeat tricks and the help of Mr Piffles, billed as the world’s only magic-performing Chihuahua.

The new stage show will be split into two halves: the first with solo performances from both Jillette, playing “Pop the Magic Dragon”, and Piff, before the pair reunite for a double act finale that promises to mix high-level magic with tongue-in-cheek comedy.

Jillette said: “Piff the Magic Dragon grabbed me right away – perfect magic, funny, and totally original. We became fast friends, and now we’ve decided to work together. It’s already as much fun as anything I’ve ever done.”

Piff added: “After ten years and over 2,000 shows in Las Vegas, I’m coming home to where it all started, and I’m bringing my Pop. This will be a father and son bonding trip for the ages.”
