Penn Badgley confirms You Season 3 will happen in interview slip up

Fans of attractive serial killers will be able to rejoice as Penn Badgley let slip his hit Netflix show You will return for a third season.

The 33-year-old American actor plays lead character Joe Goldberg in the hit show - which sees him committing violent murders but getting away with his crimes.

The second series of the show was unleashed on steaming service Netflix on Boxing Day - with many fans left gasping for more after binging all 10 episodes in a single sitting and seeing Joe seemingly target his next victim in the closing seconds of the show.

While Netflix themselves have yet to reveal is You will return for a third season, Penn himself slipped up in an interview with US magazine show Entertainment Tonight and confirmed he will be back while he discussed a female serial killed unmasked in season 2.

“She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of person. She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of predator. She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of… you know, dare I say, in the third season - oh, god!” he gasped as he talked to ET interviewer Lauren Zima.

The actor slapped his hands on his own head as Lauren pounced on what he let slip and demanded to know more about season 3.

“I literally know nothing about the third season,” he declared.

“Are we going to get a third season?” Lauren asked.

“Technically I can’t… I mean, like, unofficially?” he replied, while nodding his head.

While You has divided some viewers for glamorising violence against women and for trying to sexualise killers, Penn himself made it clear he thinks his character is unredeemable.

“Is it possible? Would it even be appropriate? Let’s say Joe could somehow go through all these experiences where we could all be like ‘I think he deserves something better now’,” Penn mused.

“I’m not sure that can be possible,” he continued.

“Joe needs justice. But what does that mean? Does that mean prison? Does that mean death? I don’t know,” he went on, agreeing that the best option would be to see Joe murdered himself, saying: “He inevitably will be, right? He has to be.”

You Season 2 is steaming on Netflix now.
