Pence to meet with House Republicans next week

WASHINGTON _ Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence will meet with House Republicans on Sept. 13, Speaker Paul D. Ryan announced Tuesday.

"Mike has added tremendous value to Donald Trump's campaign and House Republicans are excited to learn more about their plans to succeed in November and get our nation back on track," the Wisconsin Republican said in a statement.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, met with the House Republican Conference in July. Members said the meeting with Trump went well and that they learned more about his various policy positions.

Pence is a former member of the House, so his positions are more familiar to many House Republicans. The meeting will still be an opportunity for members to learn more about Trump and Pence's plans for the final months of the campaign and what their priorities would be if elected.

Ryan said he's glad Pence can follow up on Trump's earlier visit to the conference and is grateful Pence is coming to rally House Republicans down the homestretch of the election.
