Penalty on Chase Young leads to Lions win; Ron Rivera calls it a ‘teachable moment’

The Washington Football Team was in line to send this game against the Detroit Lions into overtime on Sunday, but a late penalty on DE Chase Young put Matthew Stafford and the Lions into field goal range, where Matt Prater was able to drill a 59-yarder to end the game in regulation.

The penalty on Young was deemed roughing the passer, as the rookie took a couple steps towards Stafford after he had let the ball go and knocked him to the ground. By the letter of the law, yes, it was the correct call, but there are a number of Washington fans who are going to argue it.
