Pellegrini reveals major injury doubt for West Ham striker to face Leicester City

Javier Hernandez is a major doubt for West Ham to face Leicester City this weekend with an ear problem in a blow to Manuel Pellegrini's plans ahead of the game.

The Mexican striker has not trained for the last couple of days and is unlikely to feature at the London Stadium on Saturday with Marko Arnautovic the most likely candidate to replace him.

Hernandez has started the last two games up front for the Hammers without scoring and has made 25 appearances in the Premier League this season.

But his manager has admitted Chicharito is likely to miss out this weekend as the Hammers host in-form Leicester, who have won their last four games on the spin.

The five key West Ham contract decisions facing Manuel Pellegrini in 2020

Speaking ahead of the game at his pre-match press conference, the manager said: "Javier Hernandez has a problem in his ear so he hasn't been able to work during these last days."

Samir Nasri and Manuel Lanzini are also going to miss the clash against the Foxes with calf and groin injuries respectively. Nasri will have missed the last three games with his problem, while Lanzini picked up his injury during the second half of the defeat to Manchester United last Saturday.

Ten players Pellegrini & Husillos could sell to raise transfer cash for West Ham this summer

Long-term injury victim Carlos Sanchez has continued training with the first team but won't be available this weekend while there will be a late decision on the fitness of Jack Wilshere, who has also been training back with the senior squad having previously done so with the club's U23s.
