Pelicans meeting with Anthony Davis Wednesday in L.A.

With a new front office regime and the fortune of landing the chance to select Zion Williamson with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans are not giving up on the odd chance Anthony Davis chooses to give them another shot.

Shams Charania and Will Guillory of The Athletic reported on Wednesday morning that Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin, laying out potential plans for the team if they could get Davis to stay with the team.

However, it doesn’t appear that the meeting changed Davis’ stance.

The reports about whether Pelicans owner Gayle Benson would choose to do a deal with the Lakers are conflicting. While it would be in their best business interest to be open to any and all potential offers for Davis, we also can’t pretend that the feelings of those involved often affect how business gets done.
