Two months after publicly requesting a trade away from New Orleans, Anthony Davis showed up for the final Pelicans home game of the year wearing a t-shirt that read “That’s All Folks,” a reference to Porky Pig’s famous line.
The choice of attire evidently made an impression on Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry, who jabbed back at his former player during a charity event on Saturday in New Orleans. When asked about the return the Pelicans received in the proposed Davis trade with the Lakers, Gentry joked “that’s a haul, folks.”
Although New Orleans is set to lose a top-5 player in the NBA, the Pelicans are now loaded with young assets to build for the future around top overall pick Zion Williamson. In addition to Zion, the Pelicans will add Jaxson Hayes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Marcos Louzada Silva from the 2019 draft class.
Davis, it should be noted, claims he didn’t wear his “That’s All Folks” shirt intentionally, and says he has “no control” over what he wears on game nights.
