Pelican tries to revive dead friend in front of traumatised visitors at zoo

A pelican was seen trying to revive its dead friend in a heartbreaking video shot at a zoo in Singapore.

The white bird desperately attempts to lift the head of its dead companion in a bid to bring it back to life.

The footage was filmed by a Brit while visiting the zoo with their two young children last Sunday, October 7.

The distraught parent said: “It was quite distressing.

“You take your children to a zoo to see the wonders of nature and instead, see dead wildlife floating in the displays."

The parent, who now lives in Singapore, immediately told a staff member about the lifeless bird in a bid to stop other children from witnessing the heartbreaking scene.

He said: “We spotted the bird in the tank around 9.50 am and went a told a member of the zoo staff”

The bird continued to float lifelessly in the tank for more than 10 minutes before someone removed it from the tank.

But instead of closing off the area and asking people to leave, the worker removed the deceased animal in front of a crowd of children.

The British onlooker described the moment it happened.

He said: “A keeper came and took the bird out of the tank 10 minutes later in front of a few shocked kids and tourists."

Children can be heard starting to cry as they watch the stiff pelican being removed from the tank.
