Peeing on our parade

Free wi-fi is now available for all guests in Hall 3 of Tham Luang, owned by Jao Mae Nang Non.

It's one of the most exclusive short-term resident centres in the country. The wi-fi means that YouTube videos will no longer have to be carried via sneakernet on waterproof smartphones. Oh, and a dozen groups working on extracting the lost boys of Chiang Rai from Mae Nang Non's cave can coordinate about 1,000 times faster and more effectively.

The emotional high from the news last Monday night, exquisitely if accidentally timed for the closing minute of the Brazil World Cup match, is one of those "I'll always remember where I was" moments. The bulletin, accompanied by actual video, was simple -- that the 12 boys and coach of the Wild Boars football were found. They weren't just alive but completely alert, unhurt and super-hungry.
