Former Liverpool youngster Pedro Chirivella has opened up on his move to Nantes.

The Spanish midfielder completed a transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit on Friday after turning down a five-year contract extension with the Reds.

Chirivella, who spent seven years at the club after joining from Valencia in 2013, made 11 senior appearances for Liverpool.

Speaking to Nantes' official website, as cited here, he confirmed it was the of playing time which attracted him to France.

The 23-year-old explained: "I knew FC Nantes before signing before signing for them.

"They are a very important club in France, with a great history.

"Coming to Nantes is a very good opportunity for me. It was not easy to have playing time at Liverpool and today I need to play.

"I don't know the city yet but everyone has only said good things about it. I can't wait to find out about it."

In a post to Twitter, Liverpool confirmed the Spaniard had decided to move on from Anfield and thanked him for his contribution to the club during his time on Merseyside.

Chirivella replied to the post, he wrote: "Thank you for everything, always".
