Pedro Caixinha in Rangers return as flop boss trolled over dud signing before Braga clash

It's been a transformative few years at Ibrox since Pedro Caixhina was shown the door in October 2017.

On the pitch, Rangers couldn't be any more different. From losing Europa League qualifiers to Progres Niederkorn to eliminating Braga to reach the last 16, Steven Gerrard's side are unrecognisable from the one Caixhina left behind.

He might have departed as the club's shortest-serving permanent manager after just 229 days in the job, but it seems he doesn't hold any bitterness towards his former employers.

In the wake of the Gers' 1-0 win over Braga that put them through 4-2 on aggregate, pictures emerged of a familiar face living it up with the travelling fans.

It was indeed a fresh-faced Caixinha, looking happy for the recognition among a support who have every reason not to be his biggest fans.

Having taken a break from the game since leaving Cruz Azul in the summer, he travelled along to take in the game in his native Portugal, and will have been impressed by what he seen from his former side.

Well, former only in name. Of the starting XI that came out on top thanks to Ryan Kent's strike, only Ryan Jack and James Tavernier remain from the maligned Caixhina era.

And one fan had a playful message for him en route to the stadium, saying: "Pedro, Eduardo Herrera's s*** by the way."

The change, clearly, has been for the better, as they brushed aside an impressive team many expected would put them to the sword.

Kent's strike settled it, but both he and Florian Kamberi missed great chances in the first half before Ianis Hagi saw his penalty saved.

Whether or not Caixhina will follow the Gers to their last 16 tie remains to be seen, with the draw to be made on Friday at 12pm.
