Pedro bids emotional goodbye to Chelsea as winger ends five-year spell to join Roma

Pedro has posted a farewell message to fans on social media after half a decade at Chelsea.

The departing Blues winger played an unconventional cameo in his otherwise successful spell at Stamford Bridge, prolonged by the pandemic but ending on an anti-climax because of injury.

His last five outings for Chelsea came behind closed doors, the last of which saw him taken off on a stretcher with a dislocated shoulder, shortly after half-time in their FA Cup final defeat at Wembley.

The 33-year-old had been due to leave when his contract terminated in June but agreed a last-minute extension to help the team secure Champions League football for another season.

Already highly decorated after his time with Barcelona and Spain, Pedro won a title in each of his middle three years with the Blues, including the Premier League and Europa League.

Pedro wrote: “After five wonderful years, my time at Chelsea FC has come to an end.

“Thank you very much to the club’s board, the coaches and teammates I’ve had, and of course to the fans: thank you for the chance to be a member of your big family. I’ve been very happy here. You’ve made me feel at home.

“It’s been a pleasure and an honour to play for this club and win the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, as well as competing in one of the best leagues in the world. I made the right choice. I take with me amazing and unforgettable memories.”

He continued: “I say farewell very pleased with this stage of my career, and at the same time, I’m very excited about the next one. Thank you and good luck for the future.

“Come on the Blues!!!”

Pedro will be confirmed in the coming days as a Roma player, as he sets his sights on adding to his incredible trophy haul, which also includes the World Cup, European Championships, three Champions Leagues and five La Liga victories.
