A pedophile who sexually abused a boy in Victoria and gave him loose change has been jailed for at least three-and-a-half years.
Peter Webb, now 71, was convicted of seven charges of indecent assault on a male and one count of buggery of a child in and around Maryborough in 1977.
In one instance, Webb asked his victim, who was about eight or nine years old, if he wanted to earn some money.
Webb took the boy to a secluded area, exposed himself and molested the child.
Afterwards, Webb gave him some loose change.
The pedophile also took the boy to a pub with other men before raping him on the way back while he screamed in pain.
Separately, the boy was taken to Webb's home and abused by the pedophile as well as other men.
Webb was sentenced in Victoria's County Court on Thursday to a maximum and six-and-a-half years jail, after being found guilty by a jury in November.
Judge Scott Johns said Webb's vile and degrading abuse had left the boy with lifelong trauma.
Webb had an extremely deprived upbringing himself.
He went on to abuse alcohol and solvents and develop severe mental health issues including borderline and antisocial personality disorders.
He was last jailed in 1991 for raping and abusing children.
"You have little or no remorse for your shocking history of sexual offending against children. You have little empathy, it seems," Judge Johns said.
Webb has already spend 139 days in pre-sentence detention, which will count towards his jail term.
