Pedestrian taken to hospital following a crash in Stockport - the air ambulance was called to the scene

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital following a serious crash in Stockport.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the scene of the incident on Bramhall Lane in the Davenport area of the town at 4.05pm on Saturday.

The road was closed in both directions between Cale Green and Kennerley Road following the incident, which involved a person being hit by a car close to the Spar convenience store.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area by Transport for Greater Manchester.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed brief details of the incident.

No details about the pedestrian have been released.

They were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary although their condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Bramhall Lane was re-opened following the incident.
