A busy street in Glasgow city centre is closed after pedestrian was struck by a bus.

Emergency services were called to Killermont Street, close to Buchanan Bus Station, at 4.40pm this afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Police were called to Killermont Street, near John Lewis, at 4.40pm this afternoon after reports of an accident involving a pedestrian and a bus.

"An ambulance also attended and they are no updates on injuries.

"The road is currently closed."

Meanwhile, Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management Team (TRAFFCOM) confirmed the incident and advise delays in the area are likely.

A statement read: "Killermont Street is currently closed to all traffic between Buchanan Bus Station entrance and West Nile Street due to an earlier accident involving a pedestrian.

"All traffic exiting Buchanan bus station and Buchanan Shopping Centre carpark must leave Killermont Street at North Hanover Street junction.

"Further updates will be issued when more information is known."
