A pedestrian was struck and killed by a box truck Saturday evening in Arlington Heights, police said.
About 6 p.m., a large box truck was traveling northwest in the 1300 block of East Rand Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing the street, according to a statement from Arlington Heights police. There was no crosswalk in the immediate area, police said.
When first responders arrived, the pedestrian was found unresponsive with significant traumatic injuries and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet released information on the fatality.
The crash remains under investigation.
