Pedestrian rushed to hospital after being struck by car in Cathcart

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in Cathcart, in Glasgow's south side.

Police were alerted to the incident at Holmlea Crescent involving a male pedestrian at around 5.05pm this evening (Wednesday).

Local eyewitnesses reported "a big accident" with part of Holmlea Road being closed, while police confirmed diversions are in place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live : "We were called to reports of a male pedestrian being struck by a car at around 5.05pm.

"The male pedestrian has been taken to hospital and diversions are in place."
