Holy Corner accident - Diversions in place after pedestrian knocked down by taxi

Diversions are in place after a pedestrian was knocked down by a taxi at the "Holy Corner" in Bruntsfield.

The incident took place shortly before 4pm on Thursday on Bruntsfield Place at the junction with Chamberlain Road.

The road was closed before reopening around 4.30pm, though traffic in the area is still slow as emergency services deal with the incident.

It's understood the 21-year-old man was not seriously injured though he was taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said: "About 3.50pm on Thursday 11th April 2019, emergency services attended a report of a person having been struck by a car on Morningside Road.

"A 21-year-old man was initially treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service before being transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

"The road has since reopened and enquiries are ongoing."

A Stagecoach bus was stopped near the scene of the incident but is not thought to have hit the pedestrian.

Lothian Buses said they are diverting a number of routes as a result.
