Pedestrian in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by car

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car.

The crash happened this morning at Hutton Hill, in Hutton, near Weston-super-Mare. Officers were called to the scene at 7.12am.

Road closures are currently in place between the junctions of Church Lane and Vereland Road while emergency services attend the incident. Drivers are being urged to find alternative routes.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to Hutton Hill, in Hutton near Weston-super-Mare, at 7.12am this morning (Wednesday 18 May) following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

“Officers have closed the road between the junctions of Church Lane and Vereland Road while emergency services attend the incident. One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries believed to be life-threatening."

In an earlier tweet, Avon and Somerset Police North Somerset said: "Road closures are currently in place on the Main Rd Hutton, please find alternative routes while we deal with an incident."
