Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died after being hit by a car.

North Wales Police have confirmed that a man in his 80s has died after being hit by a car on the High Street in Johnstown, Wrexham.

The incident happened shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday March 3.

The man was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital, but sadly died during the early hours of this morning.

A 40-year-old driver of a Citroen car was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Sergeant Nicola Laurie of the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.

She said: “Our heartfelt condolences remain with the man’s family.

“I am keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, which involved a red coloured Citroen C2, or anybody who was travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage.”

Any witnesses are urged to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the live webchat or by calling 101, quoting reference number 22000150294.
