Two people have been left fighting for life after separate crashes on South Australia's roads, including one in which a pedestrian was hit by a truck in Adelaide's north.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Hampstead Road near Windsor Avenue in Clearview about 10:45am.

The pedestrian has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and is currently in a critical condition.

Traffic along Hampstead road was earlier reduced to one lane in both directions.

The age and gender of the victim have not been publicly released, but police are expected to provide more details shortly.

Police have also responded to a separate two-car crash south of Adelaide in which three people were injured.

Emergency services were called to Victor Harbor and Virgin roads at Hindmarsh Valley about 12:10pm.

Two people were flown to the RAH, with another taken by road to Flinders Medical Centre.

One is currently in a critical condition and police said a lengthy stretch of Victor Harbor Road had been closed, between Armstrong and Crows Nest roads.

Police have asked drivers to avoid the area.
