Pedestrian hit by car in Mount Vernon

A pedestrian was struck by a car in the Baillieston area of Glasgow last night.

Mount Vernon Avenue was taped off by police for several hours after the incident, which happened at around 5:50pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirms the road has now been re-opened but declined to give further detail.

An earlier statement given by the force said: "Police are in attendance following a serious crash in Mount Vernon Avenue in the Baillieston area of Glasgow.

"The incident involved a pedestrian and the car happened around 5:50pm."
