Pedestrian hit by bus in Manchester city centre

A busy Manchester city centre street was cordoned off yesterday evening after a pedestrian was hit by a bus.

Police were called at 5pm on Friday, February 4 following a report of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian on Portland Street.

Chorlton Street near Yate's wine bar was cordoned off and closed to the public.

No arrests were made and it is believed there were no serious injuries.

It comes shortly after a girl was rushed to hospital after being hit by a bus in Bolton.

Police were called to reports of a crash involving a bus and a pedestrian just after 3.15pm on January 21.

The incident happened on Turton Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the pedestrian, a girl, was taken to hospital.

Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and no arrests were made.

The city centre is due to be hit by hundreds of people protesting today against the clean air zone.
