Pedestrian hit at Mayfield hospitalised with serious injuries: ambulance

A woman was hospitalised with serious head injuries after she was hit by a car at Mayfield, paramedics have confirmed.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, was struck by a car on Hanbury Street about 3.30pm, a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said.

She was assessed at the scene and rushed to John Hunter Hospital.

It was understood that the driver was uninjured.

Drivers were told to expect delays as emergency services converged on the scene. The road has since returned to uninterrupted flow.

NSW Police have been approached for comment.
