Pedestrian fights for life after being struck in hit-and-run outside Camden station

A man has been left fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run near a busy Tube station in north London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene, outside Camden station, shortly before 10.10pm on Wednesday night.

The pedestrian who was hit was rushed to hospital and remained there in a life-threatening condition.

Officers have launched a bid to trace the driver of the car involved in the serious crash after they failed to stop at the scene.

The collision occurred near Camden Road’s junction with Kentish Town Road. Diversions were in place.

Images showed the road taped off as a large number of emergency service vehicles lined the street.

“The road will remain closed while on-scene investigations take place. Diversions are in place, Camden Police said in statement.

“The driver of the car involved failed to stop at the scene, urgent enquiries are underway to locate them.”

The force added: “A man, the pedestrian, has been taken to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police quoting 8234/4Dec.
