Pedestrian dies at scene of night time collision involving van

A man died at the scene of a collision involving a van in Gwynedd on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to the A493 near Bryncrug at around 9.50pm on October 5. 

Sergeant Meurig Jones, of the roads policing unit said: “Sadly we are now investigating a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with the man’s family."

North Wales Police confirmed the incident, which involved a pedestrian and grey Mercedes Vito van, happened between Tywyn and Bryncrug.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We responded with two emergency ambulances."

The man, who was not local, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

The road remained closed for around five hours to allow officers to carry out initial enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with the Western Roads Policing Unit by calling 101 with reference X145667.
