Pedestrian dies after collision with motorbike in Bristol

A pedestrian has died at the scene of a serious crash in Bristol.

The fatal collision occurred at about 9.50pm yesterday (Monday, July 19) at Hengrove Way in South Bristol.

Emergency services were called to the collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian.

A statement from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "Paramedics provided emergency treatment to the pedestrian, but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Formal identification has yet to take place.

"A 20-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody at this time.

"The road was closed while investigation work was carried out at the scene but it reopened at about 2.40am this morning (Tuesday 20 July)."

The statement adds: "Anyone who saw what happened and has not yet talked to police, or alternatively has CCTV or dashcam footage showing the area, should call 101 and give reference number 5221163398."
