Pedestrian dead, police appeal after Bolwarra hit-and-run crash

A MAN in his 60s has died after he was struck in what police believe to be a Maitland hit-and-run crash.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses after the Saturday night collision that left the 62-year-old with injuries that ultimately claimed his life.

Police said they were called to Flat Road near the Paterson Road intersection in Bolwarra after reports of a crash.

Port Stephens-Hunter Police District crews arrived and found the 62-year-old man, who was treated at the scene by paramedics.

He was taken by ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Sunday police said they were calling for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video to come forward and help them find the vehicle involved.

Crash investigators combed the scene, and it is understood the vehicle involved was last seen heading south on Paterson Road.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
