Pedestrian and motorcyclist seriously injured after crash in County Durham

A pedestrian and a motorcyclist have been seriously injured after a crash in County Durham.

Emergency services were called to Cockton Hill Road in Bishop Auckland at just before 10pm on Monday after reports of the collision near the junction with Escomb Road.

Both the pedestrian and motorbike rider were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed for more than an hour while emergency services worked at the scene.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and pedestrian at 9.45pm last night (November 2) on Cockton Hill Road in Bishop Auckland.

"Both the rider and pedestrian were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"The road was closed from Morrisons for just over an hour while recovery of the vehicle took place."
