A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Fife.

The 36-year-old man was struck by a Suzuki Celerio on the A921 near Inverkeithing on Monday.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries but died the following day.

The incident happened at around 10.20pm near the roundabout junction with the B981 North Road.

The 63-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.

Sergeant Alastair Purvis, of the Road Policing Unit in Glenrothes, said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to police to make contact.

"You can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4071 of April 20."
